[ aww, ruby. but cinder really was enjoying all this talk about the impending war and eventual doom she would harbor towards the vale. sad face. with the glass in hand, she simply shakes her head at the idea of chocolate; her drink was sweet enough, any type of dessert would taste bland in her mouth. she tilts the cup towards its direction though, like a cool mom conceding to a child before dinner time. ]
But go ahead, take one. What's the point of all this food if no one eats it?

but cinder doesn't say that aloud obviously. instead, she merely observes her. half-amused, half-exasperated because her greatest threat really is just a naive little girl. ]
[ "life fibers". the concept of it rings familiar in her ear, just like dust woven in fabric; it requires someone exceptional to be able to wield such density of power. to be able to gamble with such risk and always end up more powerful. cinder's eyes follow the girl's direction as she points to the "three stars", gaze resting on it as if to study it; as if to recognize the full potential of the girl before him.
cinder's smile reflects the one that's offered to her. oh, now she's really... really intrigued. ]
Then I'd do well to make a friend like you, wouldn't I? You should show me how it works sometime. Seeing something like that in action... [ boldly but faintly, she reaches out to cup the girl's face. ]
Let's just say, I'm quite fond of strength and talent.
[ whether or not her words sound too sweet, doesn't matter. cinder is a strategist and she must use every weapon in her arsenal if she is to exploit whatever weaknesses she thinks to perceive in others and in her surroundings. maybe she's reading these subtle "indicators" wrong but from what she can tell, just by standing here, cinder is more than aware that she's making the other girl embarrassed without having to do much of anything. ]
[ Nonon's not sure how much sense Life Fibers actually make to other people, but they've mostly been a secret kept from normal people, in order to make sure they didn't panic and riot. But now, off her leash so to speak, Nonon doesn't think twice about explaining them to Cinder, someone she's just met. She needs allies anyway herself, people who can help get Satsuki back.
...Well, there's other reasons too she feels more trusting of Cinder than maybe she should. ]
I don't see why not. What's the point of wearing a perfectly tailored outfit and not showing it off a little?
[ Nonon grins a little confidently, her hand cutting through the air to make a point. Though just about all of her confidence she was using to show off is basically drained away in a single second, feeling something warm on her face, something that she needs a few moments to recognize is the girl's hand. ]
W-Well, I've got both of those in spades... [ It's not really a fair tactic, getting close to her like this, touching her, having long black hair and an intimidating presence, it hits far too many things that make Nonon's legs feel weak. But she doesn't know this woman either, and ends up taking a slow step back, looking... a little scared about what she just felt. ]
Strength, talent... a good fashion sense. You really do, have those "in spades".
[ cinder's arm drops to her side when she notices the girl back away from her. out of discomfort or fear, cinder can hardly tell but it doesn't matter. she isn't offended in the least and she makes sure that comes across in her expression. like a stray dog unsure whether to attack or heel, cinder merely stays still; allowing her to make up her choice on the matter. ]
Why so shy, all of a sudden? Don't worry. I don't think I could hurt you even if I tried. At least, tell me your name.
[ but despite what she's said, she isn't here to make a friend. she's here to collect a follower. her kindness is merely a feint. her cause nowhere near noble. but she can see that there's a flicker of use in this girl. and she hopes that somehow she might be blessed with vision. clear enough to see strength when it's offered, even if the origins of said strength are... questionable. ]
[ cinder follows pyrrha's lead with a considerable amount of grace, stepping and spinning when required to. when she returns to pyrrha's arms (wow charlie calm yourself), cinder's response to pyrhha's unassuming remark is a soft upturn in her lips as she adds on more "praise" to her previous statement. ]
—And you're quite the dancer.
[ despite the fact that it sounds like the adulation pyrrha has grown more than used to, there's an edge to her words. a hidden meaning that cinder sees her for more than from what she's heard and what she's been told. that underneath the guise of "warrior" and of "perfection", there is a person. one made of flesh and blood like any other and one that can be severely weakened like any other.
and as she formulates a plan for the days to come, it amuses her that their dance remains a friendly gesture with pyrrha not recognizing the threat of cinder being so close to her. it amuses cinder even more so that through this, pyrrha shows signs of believing herself to be exactly as cinder has described her.
as "invincible".
when the song comes to an end, cinder releases pyrrha from her obligation of their dance; completely sure that her ulterior motive of evaluating the girl up close and personal would be dismissed. but cinder is generous and she curtseys gratefully towards her accommodating partner. ]
Thanks for humoring me. [ and in more ways than one............... ]
[ In the wake of the dance, Pyrrha is left floundering, hands clasping behind her back when she remembers what to do with them. The moment before that decisive movement had been gangly, almost awkward, as she had struggled to know what to do with herself. Her empty arms, her warm hands. ]
Not at all.
[ Her smile, when it comes, is respectful, unfeigned. She hasn’t decided how she feels about her enigmatic dance partner yet, but Pyrrha isn’t about to be cold. ]
The pleasure was all mine.
[ The curtsy is returned, as elegant as anything Pyrrha does. ]
[ she weighs the added information in her mind, not really sure what to make of it. do people simply not notice the badge pinned to his lapel? but that isn't really important. she can't imagine how being a lawyer in a place like this makes much sense since there isn't a legal system far as she can tell; only dogmas and codes. ]
So you meet a lot of criminals? [ haha, oops. unlike in ace attorney land, she has the more common belief that prosecutors are goods and d.a.'s are the bad guys. like her. ] Have you taken anyone here as a client?
Well... I do happen to meet a lot of criminals, but usually they're not the ones who are initially accused. Out of all the clients I've taken, only one was actually guilty.
And no clients here, sadly. They won't let us practice law here, so I've been having to make due with different work.
That's incredibly useful. [ a playful smirk. ] Especially to someone like me.
[ the last part is said quite quietly, more for her own ears than anyone else's. for what reason could a woman exuberant with youth require a catboy that's practically immortal? well, if he allows it then maybe she'll become further inclined to tell. for now, however. she offers a hand to him for a shake because he's deserved the honor by now. ]
My name is Cinder Fall, by the way. I don't quite remember when I've had so much fun... talking.
[His ears perk up a little with the added little line, and he was starting to figure a little out about the woman standing in front of him. She had certainly given off a certain atmosphere and the idea of what she wanted was all but clear to the warrant officer now. Grinning, Schrodinger took her hand and shook it.]
It has been interesting to say the least. Usually I get bored talking this much and find something more interesting to do.
[ there's something pleasantly entertaining to see how little she needs to say to garner such a reaction. such indignation. cinder tends to blend in the background but she has something of a weak spot for the "villainous taunt", some may say. the dancing to cinder is already quite boring, quite dull so she's more than ready to step it up a notch. ]
Well, aren't we're impatient? Alright. How about something a little more complicated?
[ with that, cinder doesn't really offer much of a hint as to what she plans. instead, she quickens up her steps and lets go of her partners hand. like releasing a yo-yo, she expects her to spin elegantly and come back.
which isn't too complicated, assuming she doesn't trip. ]
[The first thing that pops into Rio's head, after scrambling to catch her steps and ricochet back towards Cinder, is that she did that on purpose to embarrass her. She manages, but not without stumbling and going wide-eyed for a moment at the lack of warning. Staring for a moment with her mouth hanging open, she decides about then that revenge is going to become a necessary step here.
Eventually. At this point, she's pouting fiercely; this one doesn't play fair at all. She'll have to find a spot to sneak something in, too.]
May I ask if your definition of "complicated" entails catching people off guard and expecting them to adapt?
[In what is a blatantly hypocritical effort to one-up her, she swings them both in a half-circle and initiates a wedding-style dip at a convenient crescendo in the music, locking her hand into Cinder's and pulling so that they're both aiming for the floor, all in an effort to see either her foot come off the floor or her balance pushed out of whack, whichever comes first.]
[ it'll be good for both of them, then, not to fully recall the weiss from the winter ball. since a slightly off-centered weiss isn't really the formidable one fourth of the rwby team she'd like to get to know better. when the snow-haired girl opens her eyes and props herself up, cinder offers a false look of surprise and concern then follow the other's glance afterwards to the body that still lays unmoving although just barely breathing. ]
A good question. It seems like you had a rather dedicated admirer.
[ she can hear a groan coming from him and vaguely wonders if maybe, she should have killed him? if she wasn't all that concerned about staying clean during her stay in cerealia then maybe she might have. a shame. stepping towards him, she notices the camera laying on the ground makes quick work of it. shattering it with her heel.
because in the end, she still needs to punish him. ]
How clumsy of me.
[ turning back to the blearily, just awakened princess; she offers out a hand to her to help her stand on up on feet. exemplifying the image of the savior that she really wasn't. ]
[ nah. what's the point of having henchmen and underling when you do all the work. she does the catwoman thing infrequently enough, ok.
cinder raises an eyebrow. she has no doubt about the older siblings' strength yet even she has to wonder how much dust and how powerful a semblance yang can exert on any given day. but strength and everlasting stamina doesn't necessarily equate to skill. defeating an experienced fighter against mindless beast has its advantages and disadvantages. still, even though yang looks to be on her last legs, if she's confident then...
cinder makes her way to the monsters. its interesting that yang doesn't consider preserving her strength but rather further debilitating it. weaker than what you already are is not what you want to be besides someone like cinder. ]

[ the performance is nothing short of an impressive. though there is a lot of pink and bright lights; traits in attack previously assumed impossible in the world where cinder has come from — she stands by her initial assessment. nonon's announcement before unleashing her attack borders on egregious (for cinder's taste) but the devastation it causes is enough for cinder to leave a rather satisfised smirk linger on her face. if ever so briefly.
cinder's ocular implant inform her, belatedly, of her monster's demise and nonon's victory. she wonders if nonon is relayed the same information so she stands up before nonon can register the information, should she receive it. after the dust looks to have settled, cinder cinder stand up and seems to saunter towards her. whatever injury she pretend to sustain obviously gone now. ]
Thank you, Nonon. I don't know what I would have done without you.
[ and every hero deserves a token of gratitude of affection from their damsel so cinder places a hand on nonon's shoulder and leans to kiss the tip of her hat. ]
[ Each and every performance should be memorable, Nonon thinks. Resting on her laurels, and not leaving an impression on people is for second rate conductors. And right now she's pretty sure with that display Cinder will certainly remember it.. and her. Not that she has reason for Cinder to remember her or anything!
Landing with a soft touch to the ground, Nonon doesn't even need to watch her destruction, she knows she won, and plans to gloat, not watch any status screens. Except her attention is taken by Cinder first, seeing the other girl leaning in to her and... kissing her hat? It's not that weird though, only a little... exciting we'll say.
Her arms cross over her chest, and she grins, leaning back a little. ]
It's my pleasure. I don't usually bother helping other people, but for you I can make a special case.
